Active silicon micropowder is developed from crystalline silicon micropowder through our proprietary process. By applying specialized modifiers to the particle surface, we effectively modify the original surface composition, significantly enhancing the adhesion between resin and silicon micropowder while improving interfacial hydrophobicity. This results in increased mechanical strength, elastic modulus, thermal aging resistance, and weather resistance of the cured product. Most notably, it substantially reduces localized free discharge phenomena in high-voltage electrical equipment.

It is a non-toxic, odorless, and pollution-free hydrophobic (lipophilic) high-purity white quartz silica micro-powder, characterized by its pristine white color, pure texture, and high transparency. It exhibits excellent flowability, superior dispersibility, outstanding anti-settling properties, good temperature resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, moderate thermal conductivity, high insulation, low expansion, stable chemical properties, and high hardness.

The main purpose of surface treatment of silicon powder is to improve the performance of the filling system. It has the characteristics of chemical stability, acid and alkali resistance, large specific surface area, well developed pore, high surface activity, good dispersibility, low oil absorption, strong thickening, high temperature resistance, good electrical insulation, anti-UV, and no discoloration when mixed with silica gel or heated.

5、Analysis of main applications of active silicon micropowder

Active silica powder is a series of active silica products produced by using high-purity natural quartz raw ore, which is coated on the surface of silica powder particles with composite silane coupling agent through specific process, and then processed by grinding without iron pollution and high-precision classification.

Through advanced processing of quartz micropowder via coupling treatment, a cross-linked film is formed on its surface that enhances adhesion between the base resin and silica micropowder while improving surface hydrophobicity. This significantly boosts the product's compressive, tensile, and impact strength. The activated agent coating also improves miscibility with epoxy resin, effectively reducing delamination and sedimentation. Without compromising product quality or specifications, this process allows increased filler content while decreasing epoxy resin usage, ultimately lowering production costs and improving economic efficiency.

Moreover, it has good hydrophobicity, and the phase transition of crystal molecular structure at 200-500 degrees Celsius can compensate the preheating shrinkage of other fillers, such as rubber and gypsum.

Active silicon micropowder can be combined with epoxy resin and curing agents without accelerating or inhibiting the curing reaction rate of the epoxy resin-curing agent system, nor does it affect the performance during casting. It also significantly improves the interfacial cross-linking effect between epoxy resin and silicon micropowder, reduces viscosity, enhances fluidity, thereby improving the mechanical strength of the product.

The active silicon micropowder produced through coupling agent treatment significantly reduces the water absorption rate of potting compounds. This occurs because conventional silicon micropowders exhibit high polarity and hydrophilicity, resulting in substantial water absorption. Through hydrolysis and condensation reactions, the active silicon micropowder forms covalent bonds with the hydrolytic groups of the silane coupling agent, creating a silane coupling agent film on its surface. This transformation converts the surface from polar to non-polar, endowing it with hydrophobic and oleophilic properties, thereby reducing the water absorption rate of unsaturated polyester insulating varnish. The silicon micropowder's high surface activity generates interfacial forces far exceeding van der Waals forces with epoxy groups, facilitating stress transfer between the silicon micropowder and epoxy resin and enhancing load-bearing capacity.
